EVENT

Our idea is to create a "Destination Event" during October to increase Tourism and Vacation Rentals by focusing on a 12.2 Billion Dollar Industry known as Halloween that attracts people from every age and background!

Similar to the "Women's Only Weekend," and what that did for local businesses in November.

Help Us Build a New Three-Day Halloween Tradition

Last year, a single South Haven home opened its doors to Halloween enthusiasts, paranormal investigators, and overnight ghost hunters. The response showed us something:

South Haven is ready for something bigger.

Imagine an entire Halloween weekend filled with paranormal investigations, haunted history, flash mobs dancing to “Thriller” and “Dead Man’s Party,” and costume contests, witches’ markets, decorated storefronts, food and drink specials, live entertainment—and ticketed overnight experiences at some of the area’s most intriguing properties.

We are forming a community planning committee to transform this idea into a coordinated, three-day destination event that brings visitors, energy, and meaningful off-season revenue to South Haven.

The Weekend Could Include:

  • Citywide Halloween and storefront decorating

  • “Thriller” and “Dead Man’s Party” flash mobs

  • Paranormal investigations and ghost-hunting events

  • A ticketed Peach Mansion experience and overnight stay

  • Witches’ markets and artisan vendors

  • Haunted-history tours and storytelling

  • Costume parties, contests, and themed nightlife

  • Family-friendly daytime activities

  • Halloween menus, cocktails, tastings, and shopping events

  • Hotel, vacation-rental, and campground packages

  • Live music, theater, street performers, and public art

  • A coordinated citywide event calendar and promotional campaign

We are trying to design, write and craft an interactive on-site Halloween Scary Story of Suspense, Horror, Murder and Mystery - that would create small vignettes around the City of South Haven and the Greater Blue Star Area that participants would have to visit to watch and/or interact with, to gain a clue or two from that pushes the story arch forward.

Shores Vacation Rentals will be soliciting Active Business Partners to participate in this event - through sponsorship, donation or volunteering to be a site that would host a vignette of the story.

Something we are thinking of doing:

We’re Calling on

Local businesses, restaurants, retailers, lodging providers, artists, performers, historians, paranormal investigators, community organizations, event planners, municipal partners, sponsors—and anyone with imagination, energy, or a wonderfully strange idea.

South Haven once proved that a themed off-season weekend could attract enormous crowds and generate substantial business throughout the community. Let’s take what worked, give it a new identity, and build a Halloween tradition people will return for every year.

We will also looking for local talent to assist with make-up, effects, video and sound recording, as well as acting in the production.

This event will be recorded, edited and produced into a small video story - think Blair Witch Project Style.
